Words #1 : Deus Ex Machina

A word (or a phrase, perhaps more accurately) that I came across today. In keeping with my recent ResolutionsI’m going to to try and keep track of them.

Deus ex machina

noun

1. (in ancient Greek and Roman drama) a god introduced into a play to resolve the entanglements of the plot.

2. Any artificial or improbable device resolving the difficulties of a plot.

I have no idea how I’ll get this into conversation. Certainly without sounding like a totally pretentious wotsit, but it’s a doozy alright. Reminded of a couple of things, not least this brilliant ad by VW
